I like loading speed of any website and would like to know which hosting providers they are hosting with. Is it possible? are there any ways to find out hosting provider from domain name or an IP address?

Yes it is possible. Just ping the domain name it will give you the IP. check the who is of the IP and it will give you the information of the IP / data center name and other details.

Hi Philippe,

I would not let the performance of a certain website determine if I signed up with that provider.
You don't know what is powering the website on the IP you looked up ownership for, if you used the same provider you won't know what 'Your' service is like until you start using it.

I agree. Sometimes the flaw is in a script on the site itself, usually due to bad code or bloated software. Even WordPress sites will load slow when "stuffed" with too much. Other times it's a database issue. For instance, using ISAM instead of InnoDB on large databases for MySQL can tax resources. There are often too many other factors to base an opinion of a host off of a website.

I think if I use same provider and same website cms then at lest they also give me same performance like websites are having with their host.

Hello Philippe,
will do the trick for you.
Hey sh-admin & UWH

If the website that I am tending to get hosting provider which they are hosting with, using a CDN then it is possible to get real IP address or tell me exact hosting provider they are using?

I have read that CDN services can help us hide real IP from visitors who want to view it..

yes , CDN services like cloud flare or other third party CDN , even reverse proxies will hide the actual IP address . Its actually a best security practice.

You may have better luck reaching out and asking the owner of such websites.

The IP will only provide info on the Datacenter and/or Dedicated Server provider. They could be running off of a VPS on a newly provisioned server with no load. They could also be renting a server from a reseller, or just hosting on a reseller account from a VPS reseller from a dedicated server reseller from a dedicated server provider. You can't tell how deep the rabbit hole goes with just the IP.

There really are so many variables, that your best bet is to find a reputable provider in your optimal geographical area.
