With so many web hosting services to choose on the forum, I wanted to know which web hosting service provider would you recommend choosing. How to pick a good web hosting service? What is your experience on this?

Hi Josh,

You should think about what you need. Disk Space, Backups, Great Support, Cloud etc.
You never know how good your service will be until you start using it, many providers promise everything to get you to sign up and many sadly do not deliver.

As with will companies their is the good and the bad.

My advice to you would be contact some providers you like the look of and who's packages meet your needs and ask some question. It also give you a chance to see how they respond to support requests. Once you have picked a provider I would recommend one with monthly billing so you can get a good idea of what your service will be like with them over the long term before committing to an annual plan.

Hope this helps.

Apart from what LJSHost told you already, check the hosting provider location , bandwidth speed and security (if any), the location & bandwidth speed is the most important factor between fast & slow loading website. For example if your target visitors are from USA going with hosting provider from Europe/Asia wont be that good idea (except if you don't use CDN of course).

And finally , do yourself a favor.. don't go cheap :)

Firstly you should check their reviews on review portals such as hostadvice.com, hostingadvice.com, trustpilot.com or just type the name of company to google search :)

Also try to consider their time on replying on your ticket. As suggested above just send them an email or start chat with them online (if they don't have online support at least 24/5 there is something wrong, go away from these kind of "providers")

Another great approach is if you are really interested in their service to ask them for a trial server (if they don't offer already). It shouldn't be problem for good provider :)

Sorry to say that we have to disagree (in part)with the "if they don't have online support at least 24/5 there is something wrong".

Online chats are there for one and only reason, pre-sales questions and other general questions not directly related to issue with a service. If you care about the security & privacy of your customers you should use only the ticket system from where you may or may not ask for additional verification (depending on the issue).

Why? Well , if you know how to use Google (which is your best friend by the way) you will find how easy "hackers" receive access to customers personal info and access details through different online chat platforms GoDaddy , Hostgator (just to name a few). For one good example follow this link -> https://medium.com/@N/how-i-lost-my-50-000-twitter-username-24eb09e026dd#.7e50ob3wy "

So saying that Hosting provider must have online chat support is not good advise :)

Just our five cents :)

Interesting view and post! Thank you :)

Even though it is a first easy step for customers (even new or old one). Our support guys (who operates online chat 24/7) are professionals so they will help you to solve tech problem (which is quite easier to go on our website and send a message in real-time than sending an email). Also, customers expect from these online chats fast replies.

I wanted to point out on that kind of providers who have horrible reply time. :)

Not only that, but support requests are better handled through a system where you can take your time and follow-up properly with your client. It is not time efficient to have support specialists sitting on chats trying to fix lots of different things at the same time with 5 - 6 clients.

Hi JoshMarsh,

When choosing a webhosting provider, some important things to check are uptime guarantee, money back guarantee, server location, ticket system for support, hosting space and bandwidth, number of websites/domains, type of hosting space (ssd or hdd), network speed, DDos protection, Backup.

If you have a different type of website (for example video/audio processing), you will need to check for webhosting server hardware details to know if your website can run on it.

Yes you are right, we can check these points after purchased the web hosting package but for uptime, it's a process and needs time, no one can maintain 100% uptime all the time.

Always go through the reviews of the uptime and downtime speed of the hosting provider. Also, other necessary considerations should be about Bandwidth, price, storage space, location of the server, back up services ,tech support also.

Yes you are right, there are many good web hosting providers on thsi forum and it's not easy to choose the best one. but it is easy to find some good providers on this forum section https://forumweb.hosting/131-vps-hosting-offers

For me, I would pick a hosting service which gives me fast support, good features and good price if possible :D

Other than that, you should contact directly web hosting providers to ask them which they will provide for your websites.

Hi Josh,
There are many factors to consider when choosing a web hosting company like price, disk space, RAM, processing power, features/addons offered by them, technical support status, their customer reviews, uptime experiences etc. Before choosing znetlive I also did a lot of research from all point of views and I'm continuing with them happily :dans2:

Depending on your needs create a short list of 5-6 web hosting companies that is suitable for your website. After that, try reading cross battle reviews from doing a quick searches such as Host A vs Host B. Once you read many reviews, I am sure you will have your web hosting company. Please note to read multiple review because many reviews nowadays are biased towards hosting company that provide higher affiliate payment.
