As I suppose that web traffic is the main reason for us to go for Dedicated servers, right?
Other than that, if you don't have huge traffic on your sites or you don't own an ecommerce, forums, banking site and there is a huge transaction and traffic is there then you don't need dedicated servers.
What are your thoughts?

Well you already have answer your own question. If your online project lack hug amount of traffic (lower than 20k daily visits) and the need of serious amount of resources then you don't need dedicated server.

Even with high-traffic, a VPS could be enough for web hosting. My first VPS handle 30k visitors/day with 2vcores and 4GB RAM.

But a dedicated server will provide you a guaranteed amount of unshared resources. When VPS used shared CPU and disks.
So if you don't need more CPU resources or disks IO/s, a dedicated server is "not needed". But you can go for a dedicated server to create your own VPS.

It is more rare for a single website to use a dedicated server. Typically, the average dedicated server consumer is using it for virtualization or applications, rather than a website. Some clients will prefer to host a website on a dedicated server, however, due to increased server resources and security.

If your budget is allow, you could consider premium cloud with higher resources. Price is slightly higher than VPS, but you will have high availability features.

Nowadays dedicated servers just get common, and it's no longer equal to Premium/High End any more as cloud computing get more and more popular.

So there's no standard answer for "who needs a dedicated", if you need the dedicated resources and you can afford it, you can go with a dedicated server; if you cannot afford it, you can just stay with shared hosting or VPS until you can afford it.

Yes, well said, if you have no more transaction or traffic, you don't need dedicated servers.

Thanks

Who needs a dedicated server? Any developer, website, gamer, or nerd could need a dedicated server. Huge traffic is one reason someone would need a dedicated server.

- High Traffic as noted above (i.e. website, ecommerce, blog, radio, &c.)
- Complete root access for customization and speed (i.e. sysadmin, hostmaster, nerds, &c. : )
- Priority Control of Security or sensitive information (HIPPA, privacy advocates, webhost, &c.)
- Managing high capacity multimedia transfer and storage (BaaS, film agencies, video apps, &c.)
- Database Control and Specification (database servers, i/o, &c.)

tl;dr:
If I want root access, high capacity uplink, large bandwidth, greatest storage capacity/value, ultimate security potential then I may need a dedicated server located in a quality datacenter. The 'who' could be corporations, voip providers, vps providers, and many many more.

Agreed always go for a dedicated when we have a high traffic site.

You mean you can optimize a VPS to run with that mount of traffic instead of using a dedicated server?

- Complete root access for customization and speed (i.e. sysadmin, hostmaster, nerds, &c. : )
- Priority Control of Security or sensitive information (HIPPA, privacy advocates, webhost, &c.)
- Managing high capacity multimedia transfer and storage (BaaS, film agencies, video apps, &c.)

Not ever heard about these features for a dedicated server but they are exact for which a dedicated server has while a VPS is not.

Complete root access for customization and speed
I think this point we can use on a VPS, not only a dedicated server, when buying a VPS package the hosting provider will send us root access to control which we want via ssh.

You can use dedicated server as specific server like @Machen - LSN mention.
I didn't see if some one wrote game servers.

In my personal opinion, people are using dedicated server are owning big website with good revenue and they need dedicated servers which can accommodate high traffic on their websites.
Sometimes online software/tools also needs to run on a dedicated server because it required more resource to run their application.
