I believe that we have to have a huge budget to run a successful hosting site. Because you will need to pay money for servers, domains and marketing. If you are owning many servers then you will need more money. Currently I am running a blog and its been online since 2015. In this period I have invested nearly $350 (may be more). I have also got some payment from my clients who bought my services, so I think this budget is fine for me.
What about yours ? How much you have invested for your hosting site?

If you just provide webhosting only, you only need to pay for the billing system and start with reseller hosting. Estimated USD100/month should be more than enough. You can try those free media to promote your business. WHT, LET, HD, Forumweb.hosting would help to bring you some sales lead.

However, support is the most important.

HD = Hostingdiscussion
LET = lowendtalk

There are still many forum like warriorforum, digitalpoint, blackhatworld which is quite good for marketing and advertisement.

I'd say around $300 personally. Mine has just gone into it's second month, so the upstream hosting and support for two months plus a wordpress layout for my site.

Are you suggesting to increase sales for hosting sites by promoting on hosting forums?

It definitely is right and its just next step when we have already a complete hosting site and need customers to grow it.

How have you spent $300 for a hosting site? what parts did you use for?

My VPS and support is $100 a month, so $200 on that so far. $60 on a wordpress theme for the host website, $10 on a domain and around $30 for a few SSL certs to use

In the beginning was just a domain for $10 and SSL cert for $12 ... the next day we spend $15.000.

As a reseller your costs will be domain 10 USD , SSL Free (Let's Encrypt) and aroun 20-60usd/mo for VPS .

Hello @Justing,
We take care of every issue that the reseller can't resolve or don't have access to resolve it.

For example: You are our reseller , your customer contacts you asking to help him creating database or adding addon domain to his cpanel account. In this case is you who take care of those simple issues.

We take care of all other technical and software issues like :
- Any cPanel related issue (errors, misconfiguration etc)

If you are reselling our managed VPS plans we take care of everything (All VPS issues , OS issues, Control Panel issues , Security , Monitoring etc).
and finally, if you are reselling our semi-managed VPS plans we take care of technical/network issues.

As a hosting reseller, you are required to have some average technical knowledge ( you should know how to work with the cPanel frontend (if you are reselling our shared hosting) and you should know or learn some basic linux commands if you are reselling our VPS plans).

If you use our semi-managed VPS(s) and you provide Shared Hosting on it then we take care of technical related issues .

If you use our managed VPS hosting service we take care of everything related to the VPS and cPanel (if you have bought the license from us of course).

Best Regards,
Alex

I was spent around USD40 to start :vteen::vteen::vteen::vteen:

One domain, one whmcs, and one reseller hosting. No SSL at all.

When gain small profit immediate add the SSL. Advertisement on forum and blog.

We have invested around 5k and have gotten revenue to pay off the expenses of month-to-month operation. Mostly in server hardware.

Just about $40,000 in investments alone $11,000/month for our cage and cost $30,000 or so to build it to our needs. In the whole about $6,000 monthly simply because our company is fairly new.
