Word of mouth with good customer service toward your existing customers is the best way. Also, don't forget social media, facebook, twitter, instagram etc. Email campaigns too once you get a client base.

Send out emails to companies/new companies, market on web hosting forums such as this one and ensure your SEO for your website and blog are done properly.

I believe if you have planned funding. You can start with Google Adwords, Bing ads etc. Hire a quality content writer for your blog who can write amazing content.

Gain 20 clients a month is no easy feat when starting out,but is achievable. You will need to create a traffic source, you can purchase ads or go the free option and start growing your reputation in the web hosting community. Once that has been done it all about retention retention retention. From there you will see over 20+ clients. Also try not to focus on too much on new clients, but trying to keep the ones you get.

Do a flyer drop to local businesses, and try and win some clients via that method.

20 clients per month is a good target. Its neither easy nor unrealastic. As said by members, hosting is a marathon and you need to be patient and understand customer behavior and provide quality services and support.

When it comes to marketing; forums, social media, local advertising will give more ROI when compared to Google / Bind Ads, assuming that your budget is low. In the current year there are different demographic customers.

a) Low price seekers
b) Managed service seekers
c) Value for money seekers
d) Confused customers

more customers either fall in group a or c. group b are users who already suffered pain of managing server and know the value of managed services and they will only look for this type of hosting. group d, are either new to hosting or does not know what they want, so these customers are unstable. They keep changing hosting forever.

You will learn more soon, by experience. You have to standout by making something special that makes a customer to signup with you. Hope you will find that soon. Hope this helped you.

Well said :)

and you need to be patient and understand customer behavior and provide quality services and support.
These are the conditions to win in that marathon?

When it comes to marketing ....local advertising
What exactly is local advertising? can you share a little how to do it, this can help some web hosting providers here.
I would hear it because I don't think local advertising will work for web hosting effectively.

As some suggested reaching out to people you know, your friends and relatives is probably the best way to get you started. I've had few luck of finding quite a few clients thanks to some of my friend's recommendations. There are also other free/cheap ways to reach out to your potential clients, like social media, forums, hosting directories, ebay listing, just keep working hard and don't stress out if you can't reach your goal of 20 clients per month instantly. All of this ways add up and you'll benefit in long run.

Hi everyone,

I want to know on how you get 20 hosting clients per month? it is possible? and if yes, what are the best ways to get more customers when you have less budget for advertising?

Regards
Scott
When you have less budget for advertising, advertise the way it won't cost you anything. For example, if you have some extra server room and you happen to know someone (for example some local web celebrity, podcast, open source project or similar) then offer them hosting for free, and in return they'll add banner to your site and maybe recommend you to their fans and friends. Another thing is backlinink, maybe creating some useful web tips & tricks to your hosting site blog, helping out others in hosting forums and putting your brand in signature area.
There are many ways, but if you'll work hard to achieve your goal, you'll achieve it!

What I have found is that if you have web design freelancer friends then their contacts can get you some lead. You can create affiliate program and pay your affiliates this way. So that they can bring more leads. What percentage to share with them? That's upto you. But if you don't want to work on the sales then this can be option. 20 clients per month does sound realistic but unless you have industry contacts it seems to be harder in that case.

Create an affiliate program. create a competitive referral service that will allow your current clients to sell your business for you.

Don't forget to also focus in client retention.
It's very important to retain existing clients providing a good service and support.

How to get clients is also my question even though I have not set a number of clients per month. In fact I have not started my business yet, however, I will be soon launching my business. IN the mean thime I am doing dround work for start up funds and technical knowhow on the business. The answers provided here are uplifting, I appreciate these tips. I think word of mouth is the best way to advertise your service, secondly reaching your friends and family is another way to reach customers.

It's going to depend on who you market to but it shouldn't be too hard to get 20 in a month. Posting on different forums I've been able to pull this amount in, then you have word of mouth from happy customers as well. If you have a budget to do some paid advertising such as banner ads that helps too.

To get 20 customer per month is not so easy if you just start your business. Hosting Business is also like other business. It also have some advertisement may be online and offline. Make your web sites user friendly and update and make change on it whenever you have possible. Use social media and focus on seo to get the result.
