I used these hosting panels and I vote for best control panel is cPanel and next ones are Directadmin and Plesk.

If you own a VPS with less RAM but wanted to install cPanel on it then I would suggest you switch to Directadmin and Plesk, cPanel consumes more RAM then other hosting control panels...Its just a feeling, I could not show benchmarks for these control panels.

On windows servers, Plesk is great.
However for Linux, I would choose cPanel (paid) or CentOS WebPanel (Free)

As I knew, cPanel required more RAM to run it, it has more background processes while CentOS Web Panel is a free panel, I am not sure it will have enough features like paid panels.

I have not ever used DirectAdmin but would give it a go.

If you used it, did you see any disadvantages from using DirectAdmin?

This is overview of all web hosting control panels including free and paid ones. cPanel is getting position #1, the next is Plesk and Directadmin. I hope it can solve your question.

i have seen that before on another site and it was also testing and older version of the software. Also, look at what it compares... put in what Plesk has and then you can decide. Also, looking at that chart, you would wonder why Plesk was number #2 to cPanel when cPanel is also missing Windows. Sorry, but not a good show of support for cPanel.

Oh, cPanel is losing its Docker capabilities as CloudLinux is discontinuing the servers.

As you already know I don't love cPanel, at first because I don't love Centos but also because it's really a huge control panel, and not very intuitive as hosting provider.
But it's maybe because I have seen so many junk hosting services with cPanel ...

For me Plesk is more PowerUser friendly than cPanel. For example, this week I have deploy Redis cache on 35 WordPress websites in 15 minutes with the Docker Manager of Plesk Onyx :

cPanel have been the standard in the industry. It works fine, it´s easy to use and it worths what it costs.

Is Plesk easy to setup and configure?
Yes, I use Plesk only on linux but yes there is a complete documentation, which can be included in the Plesk interface, and as any control panel, it take few days to understand and to find all the settings but I find Plesk easier to use than cPanel as it include in the same panel all the settings, not like WHM+cPanel.

Are you running both Redis and Memcached on a same server?

I think we have same function and we should only run one on a server.
Yes I'm using Redis, Memcached and Varnish in the same server, but I'm using them only in Docker containers, there are not directly installed on the server. It's like using them in virtual servers. So I'm free to connect them to the website I want, as I'm using Redis for WordPress and Magento, but Prestashop support only memcached.

Plesk is by far the better panel. If you are installing it yourself, it installs in about 15 minutes. It has a choice between power user and hosting user admin panels and as mentioned by other member, it is all in one interface, not like having WHM and cPanel separately. Plesk is also the ready-to-code platform providing an amazing tool, the Wordpress toolkit for those of us in the WordPress community. If you work with WordPress, then Plesk is your only choice. Plesk is also perfecting Python, RoR, Node, Django Support. Plesk Onyx testing is working with Docker, will have Multi Server management, and also includes the best security out of all the panels. Want access to use your own Git repo in Plesk or connected from Plesk to a Git Repo, Get Plesk.

cPanel is well know and has been around, but it seems to only want to be a control panel with a one size fits all mentality. While they do have a large chunk of the market, they are not the global leader. Look to Plesk as they hold that title. Install time can take well over an hour to install. The panel is not easy to learn and the menu on the left hand side goes on and on for days.

Direct Admin is good for low priced panels. The install is based on a script to install as well as reconfigure. It pulls down source packages and it compiles everything custom for your server, which is very cool, but again takes time and if there are package or patch issues, you need to wait for them to redo the script to integrate patches to the source. Direct Admin also has challenges as the UI is the same as it has been for about 10+ years and it is not easier to day than in the beginning.

I have been in hosting and have run my own hosting and design companies since 1995. I have used all three solutions, and currently have both Plesk and cPanel systems. Plesk had some bad times due to focus in the past, no doubt... but now Plesk is only Plesk... if you have not checked Plesk out... Then you are missing the boat.

But do you think Plesk provided too many tools or addons for users which some users didn't want to use all?
If using all, we can consume more RAM for background processes and if so there is a way to decrease unused functions on Plesk ?

I think cPanel is easy to use but for WHM, it is a another problem.
I have still same question like Plesk. cPanel consume more RAM than other hosting control panels. We can optimize it?

Direct Admin is good for low priced panels. The install is based on a script to install as well as reconfigure. I agree with you about Directadmin, it's a light panel with manual configurations but if we compare it with other panels as cPanel or Plesk then it is still weak. But it is suitable to normal users who need simple functions to run their websites.

Plesk is definitely so much better than cPanel. I tried cPanel as well but there UI really sucks - unless you like endless scrolling and searching ;-) Also Plesk requires much less resources and installs faster. Additionally cPanel only runs on CentOS while Plesk runs on all Linux and Windows versions (CentOS, Ubuntu, Debian, ...). I prefer Ubuntu - it's actually the preferred Linux OS by Cloud Service Providers. Plesk on Digital Ocean is my favorite, but it works smooth also with all other hosters and Cloud Service Providers (AWS, Azure, Google Compute).

Regarding features, Plesk is more intuitive and allows to setup Continuous Deployment with git with just one click. Goodbye FTP - I will never use it again. I just use git since 2 years. And the git integration in Plesk works like a charm. Try the Plesk Onyx preview from their website it is really great. You also get SSL with Let's Encrypt for all your domains and security checks, etc. and the WordPress Toolkit is amazing. I never saw a better mass-management tool for WordPress sites.

So my recommendation to you is to just try Plesk and cPanel and get your own opinion.

And to try Plesk, no need to get buy a server, you can run it on docker : https://hub.docker.com/r/plesk/plesk/

So if you have a Windows computer, just download Kinematic to get an UI for docker.

I used cPanel before but find them as one solution for everything. DirectAdmin is not there yet in my opinion.

I looked for options as I did not want to spend same huge license cost of every VPS because not everyone is hoster and need unlimited domain. I stumbled upon all new Plesk and has been mighty impressed since then. They have washed off their legacy and the new Plesk 12.5 is awesome with 3 editions to cater different audiences from sys admin to developers to hosters. Give it a try!

Great to see another Plesk aficionado. We've been using it since Plesk 2 in 2001. It's amazing to see how it's grown over the years. The interface is so slick. But sometimes it drives me nuts as there are things you can do in cPanel that you can't in Plesk (like APC). But those things get fewer and fewer each release. And if you want a Windows control panel it's the best bar none.

Sure cpanel the best linux control panel.

I suggest using cpanel
Yeah, well, that's just, like, your opinion man.

There's no Docker support for end users though right? Customers can't install, just admin?
