Instead of using domain manager from my domain registrar, can I use Cloudflare to create A record that points my hostname to my IP address?

As I know then Cloudflare updated DNS or A record faster than other domain registrars, right?

If its exact how to do this in Cloudflare?

You can use CloudFlare to manage your DNS Zone of your domain / you will switch from using your domain registrar DNS and point to the name servers that cloudflare issues to your domain when you set it up.

Just signup for the free plan at CloudFlare add your domain and it will auto populate the zone record data / then will show you the name servers that you need to use.

The (A) record will point to whereever your site is hosted at.

Yes it's very useful to manage all your domain using cloudflare, even if you don't use the CDN.

You can add A,CNAME,MX records as much as you want, and the propagation take under 2 minutes.

Thanks for your suggestions, I usually create CloudFlare ( scan my site for auto generating records) after added DNS in my domain manager to point to my hosting.

So if I use CloudFlare before pointing my domain to my hosting then other records I need to create them manually? some MX record required special value then how?

You need to create all necessary records because if you used Cloudflare DNS then it is host DNS records for your websites, that should be done on Cloudflare.

You can't add a domain to cloudflare if there are no records because it need to detect a least a A record. And you can edit the DNS when you add it on cloudfare.

A basic domain records are :

1) A record with your website IP
mydomain.com (A) 10.10.10.10

2) CNAME records to redirect wwww
www (CNAME) mydomain.com

3) Mail server record A
mail.mydomain.com (A) 10.10.10.10

4) MX record to get the email on your mail server
mydomain.com MX(10) mail.mydomain.com

Mean that I need to point my domain to my hosting first beforing scan it with Cloudflare?

for example, I am having some domains host at godaddy, name and neamcheap, if I use their default DNS and scan website with Cloudflare then it is possible? if ok, I can delete records that Clouldflare scanned for my site and instead of adding records from a new hosting into it.

Hello!

I've used Cloudflare exactly the way you put it.. For a domain to go to an ip. This does work and I do recommend them because they are really good!

Cheers,

1) Register your domain
2) Use the domain registrar default DNS
3) Get a free account a CloudFlare
4) Add the domain - it will scan records
5) CloudFlare will tell you the name server names
6) Goto to your registrar change to cloud flares name servers
7) Done
