Anyone acquired a 99c domain recently with anyone?

Godaddy are nodaddy these days if you've already burned that wick.

Google showing mixed results although, the 1and1 welcome offer looks ok $0.99. $14.99/year renewal though.

What do you say to using promo coders for domains? Some people are against it because of the renewals cost.

It can work out cheaper just using NameCheap as even though registration is more, renewal cost isn't as much as a promo code domain is. Even with Domain Privacy.

Plus buying 3 years in advance saves more in the long run of course.

What good 99c domain deal and offers do you know of now and what do you think about using promo coded domains?

Based on these facts, would you rather not use a promo code or do you like to think you're getting a deal?

Because when you think about it, by using promo code domains you're actually paying more in the long run anyway.

So therefore, another question to ask could be, why do people use promo code domains at all?

I guess it goes to show how much people value their money.

In that they would rather pay less now and lose more later than pay more now to lose less later.

Not everyone of course but yeh, how about you? :bash:

I haven't been able to register a $.99 .com from GoDaddy in many months since they changed their coupon code policy late last summer. As for 1&1, I would avoid them at ALL COSTS. Do some research and you will find all kinds of horror stories about billing issues long after the domain has been transferred, multiple charges for services you are no longer using/have, losing domains and many more.

I have been a domain investor since last century and have known a lot of people who were tempted to buy from them and were warned, but did it anyway only to find the stress and PITA's that their company and it's service have caused.

You might be lucky and not have any problems with them, but you need to ask yourself if you want to gamble with your domains. I don't like gambling with mine!

Based on personal experience if I am going to be keeping and using/developing a domain into a site I juts use either Namecheap or sometimes Namesilo. Both have great prices and service/support. Namecheap's service/support is the best I have had ever! Support is something that makes a big difference to me.

GoDaddy is a bit crazy on renewals and it's costing them a lot of customers. The others mentioned above don't jack up the renewal prices, which is great.

Using a promo code is fine at GD and some others, just transfer out after the registrar lock is over and before renewals and you can get the best of both worlds. Using a promo code at GD and most others doesn't mean that you are stuck there. They are just playing the numbers that most people will just renew at the higher rates rather than go through transferring out before renewals come up.

If I know I am going to be developing a domain into a site, I usually just go with Namecheap and stay there. Best overall option for me most of the time.

Just a word of advice. Avoid registering domains at 1&1 unless doing this with your computer after dealing with them sounds appealing: ;)

Funny that I should see this now, I JUST used one, lol. Just got my CC
renewed so I have a new number, lol. The site is for a mess-around site
I will be using for a short-while so the longevity of it is not a concern.

If I were registering a long-term domain, coupons are almost useless
as most places that offer the best coupons usually have the highest
renewal rate, the suckiest service or both, in my experience anyway.
