I have wanted to get into affiliate marketing for quite some time but am clueless where to start. I see so many guides/tutorials but they all seem to contradict themselves. I've looked on here at a lot of threads but most seem to assume that the reader is educated on hosting and getting started. While I am internet savvy and certainly know my way around, I am clueless about web design and hosting and things of the like. I do understand that I need to have a niche, but after that, I'm lost.

What comes next? Is there somewhere you could direct me that could point me in the right direction? Any tips, advice, etc., is appreciated!

Thank you!!

Hello
sunshine5637:
There are many places you get started in affiliate marketing, it depends on whether you want to just make money promoting someone else's product or just their website. And there are other factors such as "how much time are you willing to spend promoting it" or "how much money can I really make". There are a lot of factors and I could give you a link to one that I used to use but in all honesty? I think that even that one is simply a scam.

But I WILL tell you that I offer a very simple affiliate program on my website, I am the sole owner and a down to earth father of 3 so it is not a catch. I write and promote, sell my own e-books and other products and my program offers a 20% commission on ANY sale from my site, be it an ebook sale, other product, a membership sale. As long as they come to the site from your affiliate links and buy something? you make 20% of that sale, and if they come back in a week and purchase something else? you make money again. It's that simple.

I have banners, and pre written solo ads you can share anywhere on the net to send people to the site, and a brandable version of my first e-book that you can put your affiliate links in and share to make potential money.

Mine is a very simple affiliate program and it also has a link generator where you decide and create whatever site link you want to use as an affiliate link!

You may also do some research for other products on the net that you can promote to make money.

Hope this helps :)

You don't have to be a geek to be able to setup a WordPress site. The question here is how deep you intend to go as far as affiliate marketing is concerned. If it's something you intend to take as a job, then you would need a mentor to guide you as you progress (I strictly don't advice this). If you would like to learn along the way, then you would do well by getting a book and learning on the job (I recommend this method).

I learnt on the job, and I am currently making not less than $20 per day from amazon niche site. (I know it's small but it shows that the business is real, and I can always dedicate more time to improve the result). I would suggest that you get a book on each aspect of affiliate marketing:

Niche and Keyword Research

Ads (Facebook, POF, Google)

Website Design (Wordpress is easy)

Email Marketing

Web Hosting setup and other related stuff

The idea here is to make a list of what you need to know about affiliate marketing and get a book written specifically for it.

Don't sweat yourself about learning everything all at once. Learning is a life time thing, be happy when you make mistakes because they're pointer to how to do it better. Don't wait until you "master" everything before you get it going.

Shameful personal promotion:

I mentioned earlier that I am making not less than $20 per day from amazon niche site. I have a product that detailed my experience, if this sounds like something you would like to read, then send me a pm.

Most broadly, you find a profitable niche, find products to promote (when starting, it's good if you start in a niche that you are familiar with - will help you to come up with content and more easily able to connect with your audience), get a domain name and hosting (where the content for your site is stored) - these things are inexpensive), publish said content, get traffic, and build a list (acts as an additional income stream for your blog - besides the people that come there via the search engines).

Oh, once you've found a profitable market, the key is to promote things that people are already searching for in your niche. Having an e-mail list allows you to continually promote products over the long-term (once you've cultivated a relationship with your list and provide them with value). When it comes to a product to learn from, I recommend Affiloblueprint by Mark Ling.

Mark Ling has been in the business for a long time and has a really good reputation (ethical marketer that really knows his stuff). His course is really the most comprehensive and up-to-date. The coolest thing about it (lots to like) is that he teaches you how to build a site from the ground up by doing just that in a niche outside of "make money online." It's designed to be done over the course of several weeks, but you can go at your own pace.

First of all, you need to choose a niche. You should choose to write about one of your hobbies, something you have knowledge about.
After you have chosen your niche, it is time to build a website. Creating a website and hosting it is work for a Web Developer, not an affiliate.
If you have some money you should hire someone to create a blog for you (a WordPress one because it`s easy to maintain).
If you want to sell just one product, you could hire someone to create a basic (html + css : these are markup languages used to create simple websites) landing page.
Remember one thing: Affiliate Marketing is a business, and like any other business you need to invest some money at the beginning.
If the costs of building a website seem to high for you, I want to ask this questions: How many business can you start with just a couple of hundreds of dollars?

In my experience the best way to get into a niche is to begin with list building i.e. give away bonuses in exchange for signing up.... The reason for that is you can promote many affiliate products with a single email blast for each one versus time and effort to create sites and get traffic to it...

In parallel aim for the following:

1) Product reviews
2) Bonus give-aways for the actual affiliate sale

Use your own websites, web 2.0s as well as videos...

Aim to try build email list first, although in some cases such as traffic arriving at a review page will just refer on to vendor... A lot of folks don't buy on the first sale but of course it does happen... hence I always try to provide an incentive when promoting a product as an affiliate whether it be via email or on a web page...

Finally use ads in the short term and SEO for long haul...

Overtime you'll be operating many sites, email lists etc - and hopefully a thriving business!

Best of luck, Hope that helps!

Affiliate marketing is like being a pr of a product. You introduce the product to a person/group of people and send them to the sales page to close the deal. If the product owner is able to close you earn a commission.
It is better to have your own place, but you could dip the toe in the water with revenue sharing platforms. Example: hubpages, or if you are into books you could use booklikes (I have a books reviewing site where writers get commission over their sales too, booklikes is a bigger platform though). The good thing about revenue sharing platforms is that they solve the second part of the problem, which is finding your prospects. They take care of seo and promotion in general, and there is an inner community so your market is right there.
Now, is this good to build a business? Nope. it is just to dip your toe. Things change and one article that is your best selling can be taken out just like that for spammy, or whatever.

I suggest finding a reputable "start to finish" affiliate training program. There are many, some are free to start, some are not. I'll mention three, although there are many others. Unfortunately, there are a lot of poor quality programs too.

The ones I have personal experience with are Fizzle, Wealthy Affiliate and Affilorama. I am currently a member of the Fizzle community, and especially like their "Fizzle Roadmap." They produce high quality video training on starting a business from inception to completion and the Roadmap guides you through the process, covering most of the areas you indicated you're interested in.

I know this sounds like an advertisement and I am an affiliate over at Fizzle, but I won't be compensated for this post and no affiliate links are included in this post. If you want to look at any of the programs mentioned, just use a search engine. They'll show up.
