One of reasons why google doesn't like any site because they have low quality content and less quality backlinks (pointing to that site) so that you need to check your web analytics to see which is necessary to increase or improve for your site

Content is unique (user-generated at the forum). So I have to buy backlinks? What to do with Penguin?

Buy backlinks is not a good way to go, I would you find some SEO experts on the forum and ask them for consulting..maybe you need a SEO report or some advices so that you know which need to do on your site.

Something is wrong if you have a forum "with" content yet no one is sharing the forum or referencing the forum on other forums, platforms and social media. You need to see how you can remind your present user base to share and talk about the forum in other social circles (unless your forum is for hemorrhoid sufferers and such).

The method is simple, add unique content, but it must be high quality content then start the on-page and off-page process.

Think about it this way: if you where the visitor/user would you find the information on your site useful/informative ?

If the answer is no, then start improving things on your website.

The number of organic visitors provided by Google could be resulting from a plethora of reasons and it is almost impossible to say without analyzing your website. However, a few places to start would be to check your content is targeting keywords people regularly search for, you have relevant authoritative backlinks pointing at your articles and your on-page SEO factors are all set up correctly.

It would be much easier to help you out if we could see your site. How long has your site been live? If your site is newer, it could take a while to start getting good traffic. That's not something that happens overnight. The search engines like to see growth. The search engines pay more attention to your site (give it more authority) the longer it exist with relevant, unique, and fresh content. Aside from just having content, stuff on your site needs to be optimized properly.

Don't buy backlinks. That looks artificial. The search engines will reward your site with backlinks naturally over time if you're doing things right. From what I've read, the average blogger or whatever gives up on a virtual property after about 4 months. It's when you hit benchmarks like these that you see stuff start go to go up. If the search engines didn't like your site, you wouldn't be getting any traffic at all. The niche your forum is in also matters. Did you choose a profitable niche? Some are more profitable than others.

There really isn't an accurate way of giving advice and/or help without being able to see your site. If you let us know what the URL is then perhaps some of us can take a quick look and see if there are any indicators as to what's going on with the site.

Your site should not have quality and unique content and you are doing something wrong to get backlinks. Your site's backlink should be poor quality. Try to make best quality content for your site and get backlinks only quality backlinks via Forum Posting, blog and web 2.0 creating and commenting, social bookmarking and Most important SMO.

Define buying links...

Buying links that are just going to be stuffed somewhere in a spammy manner yes they are no good.

Buying quality content written about what you do, who you are, with great anchor texts on a high authority website is good. I do this for a living.

If you have questions feel free to PM me.

Use social media to make your website presentable. Right now, more people check on Facebook than on any other side. Hence, marketing your site there is a must.

As a lot of the folks have indicated - Google is not the only source of traffic... and its also obvious that your forum does not have much interaction, fresh content etc given the daily visitor stat...

With ranking on the serps - do you have any idea of which keywords you want to rank for? If not then I suggest that you implement keyword research so that at least you have something to measure against...

Once done I would check your pages to see which ones are relevant to that... Once identified I would consider internal links to funnel related pages to the ones which you have identified to rank for a given keyword i.e. build silos.... For the ones that are gaps - consider starting new threads which targets those keywords...

If you can get high quality links - then I would point some of them to the inner pages/posts which have been identified for specific keywords...

Given the lack of interaction - you'll probably have to setup some fake accounts or pay posters to contribute in order to get the ball rolling.... In addition to seeking to get new members...

I would consider running ads on websites/web 2.0 platforms which is relevant to your niche i.e. where does your target audience hang out.... As well as participating on such sites with contributing to the discussion and where possible promote your forum noting rules of each site i.e. on forums you can place a sig link, websites you can post a guest article etc and of course avoid spamming as that will obviously lead to such contributions being deleted...

Content is first thing google takes into consideration so you should have quality, unique content on your website. Then you should do proper on page SEO and build some quality backlinks to your website.

Create more quality back links via performing the following off page tasks as proper content marketing on article & blog sites, social bookmarking, directory Submission. Thus your site crawl, google bot index it.

SEO is a constantly changing animal that you have to feed differently all the time. As in "you will not get the exact same searches for your content all the time" and as it's been said earlier on in this topic there has to be quality back links somewhere on the net to lead back to your content.

You may have to use a different method tomorrow than you did today because of the day to day requirements of search engines.

Do site submissions, forum signatures, guest posting on sites that are similar to yours. It depends on whether you want fast SEO or quality SEO!

You can have both if you do some research and do it right :)

Hi kpripper,

There are so many reasons for this. Few are mentioned below:

1) Your Site is new
2) Your website's page loading speed is slow
3) The title tags are not relevant or effective
4) May be you are targeting wrong keyword
5) Backlinks from irrelevant sites
6) Your website's images are not optimized properly

Hope this will help you.

Without knowing what your website actually is, the best people can do is give you general tips on how to get better rankings and hence people are saying things like add more content, get more better backlinks etc etc. However, anyway, your thinking is all wrong. Google doesn't "like" or "dislike" any website. Google is not a person with a brain and personality that can think like a human. It has to follow the commands given to it that are written into its algorithm. It looks at your site and calculates its ranking worthiness based on age, number of backlinks, age of backlinks, type, speed and velocity of backlinks, your on-page SEO, content, age of site etc etc etc. Not to mention competition of other sites out there that are probably much older and have many more older backlinks and much older content, shares, social signals etc.

Well, there are various factors which should be emphasized in order to make your site traffic increased. The best of which is on page. Check all the things on your webpage are SEO friendly or not. The images and buttons as well. This will surely help in the first point

Are those 20-30 visitors coming from Google alone? I would look at your analytics and see what keywords are bringing you traffic.

User generated content is not long tail optimized traffic for the most part, unless you chime in the conversation and use the keywords.

Other than that... as many others said one way or another: traffic is about people. Just make sure the content is attractive and put a good bait where your market gathers. They will come, and stay.
