A recent website I've invested around $450 for it, the fees include hosting, domain, advertising, buy software licenses, articles..etc. I suppose that it is on right way when its traffic is increasing daily and I start thinking about making money with it.

I haven't invested anything for my blogs. Just manual link building and promotion in social networking websites help me get a regular traffic to my blog. I would rather use freelancing services when I will be busy with other things. But till now I can say I have invested zero money, but a lot of time for promotion.

Reddit traffic is fairly cheap and you can hit the goldmine there. Fb looks expensive these days so I avoid it for blog promotion (though new ads is now out , have to check that more closely). Lately I hire a freelancer that knows about the subject to post comments on blogs... that way I get a lot of traffic to my site!

What's the minimum... well depends on the size you want to build, and how many channels you want to promote your blog to. It can be $100 or $1,000... no straight answer to it!

I have a site which cost me almost $300 to set it up. The money was used to buy domain, hosting, logo and banner designer and content writer. However, a similar site cost me just about $70 to set up. I bought a templet for $50 and used rest of the money for the domain and hosting.

I have invested a lot of time and maybe a dollar here or there - but I think it's reaped vast rewards. Nonetheless, a lot of it is going toward material - when I also need advertising. Well, anyway, one reason advertising is so tough is that you cannot barter for it. Instead, it needs real cash. However, ironically, in the past, the situation was reversed - material was a big challenge for me, but SEO was easy.

Spending money to develop a website is not a bad idea, I have spent so much money and time on Facebook ads, and it really worked for me ...

If you are thinking of a way to develop your upcoming site you have to know that your time and hardwork is required then money can come in place if you want to spend the money to bring you more traffics and probably back links ...

Friend it's not a bad idea thank you for such a nice thread

I have never invested any money on my blog and I never knew it was need. It seems like we need to invest to get high returns in terms of monetization. I know when I buy a domain and start hosting my blog, that will be my beginning of investing but I don't know how much it costs.
