It also helps with Search Engine Ranking these days so it can affect the traffic you get. Basically all sites should be using it these days, especially as it can be applied for free.

SSL is not only a very important, I would say it is a must nowadays. As the new data protection regulations are coming like GDPR and the topics of data protection is very popular these days. Every website that is being developed should start securing their site (if that hasn't been done already) and the SSL is one of the key things. It actually says that the website developer understands the importance of data security. It also builds the trust of your website in the eyes of the visitors.

The SSL certificate is one of the guarantees that transactions can be carried out through electronic commerce in a secure manner. And it is not only a competitive advantage, but also an obligation that we must follow in the interest of good practices in electronic commerce.

One of the pillars on which electronic commerce is based is trust. For there to be economic transactions through the Internet in a continuous manner, it is necessary to offer visitors the greatest security guarantees so that these operations can be carried out safely. Hence the importance of installing an SSL certificate in our online store or website.

Many companies focus their resources and efforts on the aspects most related to SEO, marketing or conversion optimization. But they do not always pay enough attention to the legal aspects of the online store, as well as everything that has to do with security

It can effectively prevent the website from being hijacked to jump to the ad page or porn page.
Some router manufacturers in China often add scripts to their firmware to do this kind of thing, and sometimes you are hijacked to jump to pornographic pages on Google. !

Secure Socket Layer (SSL) is a safety protocol that ensures the safety of information between web browser and server. It is mandatory in today's competitive world to achieve customer's satisfaction and trust in business.

More and more people are becoming aware of the security risks of conducting transactions online. Website visitors are now familiar with seeing the padlock on their browsers indicating that their transactions are secure. Having an SSL Certificate on your website gives your visitors more confidence knowing that their transactions will be secure.

Quick Validation SSL certificates ensure that information is encrypted between parties. The owner of the certificate is verified via an email to a contact listed in the domain’s WHOIS information. This helps ensure that the certificate is valid. A Quick Validation certificate ensures that your data is transferred with secure encryption technology.

Without SSL, hackers can get email//password of users which are trying to login into your website.
Or can easily get access to users credit card information.

Hello,

Websites need SSL certificates to protect user data, verify website ownership, prevent attackers from creating a fake version of the website, and establish trust with users. HTTPS is the secure form of HTTP, meaning HTTPS websites have their traffic encrypted. via SSL.
Advantages to use SSL:
  • SSL Protects Data
  • SSL Affirms Your Identity
  • Better Search Engine Ranking
  • SSL Helps You Satisfy PCI/DSS Requirements
  • SSL Improves Customer Trust
There are different types of SSL certificates with different validation levels. The six main types are:
  • Extended Validation certificates (EV SSL)
  • Organization Validated certificates (OV SSL)
  • Domain Validated certificates (DV SSL)
  • Wildcard SSL certificates
  • Multi-Domain SSL certificates (MDC)

SSL protects data exchanged between users and websites, or between two systems, by making it impossible to read. It employs encryption methods to jumble data in transit, preventing hackers from reading it as it travels over the network. This data may include potentially sensitive information such as names, addresses, credit card numbers, or other financial information.
SSL certificates are required for websites in order to safeguard user data, validate website ownership, prevent attackers from building a false version of the site, and transmit confidence to users.
HTTPS is the secure version of HTTP, which implies that HTTPS websites use SSL to encrypt their communication.

Do you mean by "creating a fake version of your website" -- the creation of the so-called "fishing" websites? And if people created a version of my website, what should I do?

I have one website, a copy of mine, and I think part of my users are caught by the fake one, unfortunately.

SSL encrypts your web surfing so people can't see what you're doing on the web. If we didn't have SSL, and you went to your bank website, if someone was on the same network as you all they would need is a packet sniffer and they could see your password and other account information.

Websites need SSL certificates to keep user data secure. And also SSL is essential for protecting your website, even if it doesn't handle sensitive information like credit cards or debit cards.

Yes, SSL is important for a website to increase site security, safety for all subdomains, credibility & trust for your visitors, and beneficial for SEO. There are plenty of types of SSL Certificates available. However, you must get familiar with every one of them to know the one that suits your needs the best.

It might be perfect to opt for an extended validation certificate in case you've got something to sell. You must consider a wildcard SSL certificate if you need to validate 1-2 websites.

On the other hand, a multi-domain SSL Certificate suits the best for verifying multiple domains. Therefore, choose the most suitable SSL certificate concerning whether you want to certify all, multiple, or one of your domains or subdomains.

Hello,

An SSL certificate is a digital certificate that authenticates the identity of a website and allows for an encrypted connection. SSL is an abbreviation for Secure Sockets Layer, a security protocol that establishes an encrypted connection between a web server and a web browser.
SSL protects data exchanged between users and websites, or between two systems, by making it impossible to read. It employs encryption methods to scramble data in transit, preventing hackers from reading it as it travels over the network. This data may contain potentially sensitive information such as names, addresses, credit card numbers, or other financial information.

Why do you require an SSL certificate?

SSL certificates are required for websites in order to safeguard user data, validate website ownership, prevent attackers from building a false version of the site, and convey trust to users.

If a website requires users to sign in, enter personal information such as credit card numbers, or see confidential information such as health benefits or financial information, the data must be kept private. SSL certificates help to keep online interactions private and assure consumers that the website they are visiting is real and secure to exchange personal information with.

SSL Certificate Types

There are numerous types of SSL certificates, each with a different level of validation. The six major types are as follows:
  • Wildcard SSL certificates
  • Multi-Domain SSL certificates (MDC)
  • Extended Validation certificates (EV SSL)
  • Organization Validated certificates (OV SSL)
  • Domain Validated certificates (DV SSL)
  • Unified Communications Certificates (UCC)

SSL safeguards your sensitive information as it travels across the world's computer networks, and it is the backbone of our secure Internet. Even if your website does not handle sensitive information such as credit cards, SSL is required for security. For both your websites and your users' personal information, it delivers privacy, crucial security, and data integrity.
  • SSL Encrypts Sensitive Information
  • SSL Provides Authentication
  • SSL Provides Trust
  • SSL is required for PCI Compliance

Hey there!
Here are the five key benefits of using an SSL certificate.
  1. SSL Protects Data
  2. SSL Affirms Your Identity
  3. Better Search Engine Ranking
  4. SSL Helps You Satisfy PCI/DSS Requirements.
  5. SSL Improves Customer Trust
Google made SSL compulsory in 2018.
To provide a more secure online surfing experience starting in 2018, Google has chosen to identify websites that do not have an SSL/TLS Certificate installed. If anybody violates this regulation, all major web browsers used worldwide, such as Google Chrome and Firefox, would be disabled. Mozilla will penalize them by displaying a 'Not Secure' warning notice in the URL bar. Websites may likely be prevented from loading on the browser in the near future. No matter what kind of website you have, from a personal blog to a retail portal, SSL is required, and failing to comply may result in a loss of traffic, something no website owner wants.
