It is at least safer than hosting by yourself, unless you really really know what you're doing. Hosting companies always keep their server updated with the latest security updates in order to prevent any leak of information or even been hacked. What you should care the most, is to secure your credentials to administrate your hosted site, using strong password and logging from a "safe" computer.

If you host by your own, you should meet high security standards to keep your host safe from attackers. Or else bad things could happen.

Remember what happened to Hilary Clinton and her email server: http://www.techrepublic.com/article/hillary-clintons-infamous-email-server-6-things-you-need-to-know/

Of course, it depends too on the relevance and importance of your host to become the target of hackers.

As other people stated it's really a matter of the people who provide the service. It is safe if you want to keep your information stored at a place, where it won't disappear, because of a technical fault, but it's not too protected against hacker attacks.

I agree with you here. All of the research i have done leads me to believe that cloud hosting is quite secure and that the multiple servers and their safeguards protect your data.

I do not think anything posted on the internet is 100% safe considering the way hackers try to devise means to penetrate private and public information put by people on the internet, so if you are asking about a 100% way to secure your files, then I suggest you do not launch any of the files online. However, I think cloud hosting is secure than traditional hosting since the companies that run these cloud hosting are big companies like Google and the rest that ensure that they do all they can to protect the files of their clients.

Aside from that, I still think you should be careful what you put on the internet to avoid stories of leaked files in the near future.

Compared to other hostings, cloud hosting is not the safest of them all but depending on your how important your files are, it's best to store them in an external storage rather than online. Online hosting these days are making their encryption and security better but 3 out of 10 people who use cloud database still experience troubles (file corruption, stolen, etc.) So to wrap things up, I highly recommend other safer options.

Very yes it is safe for sure. Cloud hosting is definitely the safe technology to go with when it comes to data safety. if you still feel your data is mission-critical than definitely suggest you to go with real-time backup/storage services along with your Cloud VPS or Dedicated Server. Since if data gets lost because of some unexpected problem with physical server than you will have the real-time backup data stored in other server.

Indeed, security is what most business owners have a big concern on. Cloud hosting is speedily growing making people switch from traditional servers since it has a lower cost and you can upgrade or downgrade it anytime. However, it also have some disadvantages like migration matters, virtualization and there are a lot of users of public clouds. If you worry about the security, you have to build your own private cloud or either use a traditional dedicated server.

I wanna believe it is, but man celebs have cloud hosting via their phones and they still get hacked. I guess it depends on the provider and their security measures and overall reputation. But also the purchaser has a responsibility as well. Don't give out your password to ANYONE.... even friends or people you think you can trust. Also be careful of accessing your cloud in pblic, as you never know who might be looking over your shoulder in a crowded restaurant or atrium.

My opinion about cloud hosting in terms of security is not safe. Here are the 2 reasons why I deem it not secure/not safe:
1. Cloud hosting is prone to security breach due to its universal accessibility and at the same time it needs a competent security measure in preventing from such attacks.
2. Cloud hosting is also prone to Malware and permanent data loss or deletion hence the need for good antivirus can prevent this things from entering into the server or system.

As far as I know many business ventures rely on cloud hosting primarily because of the reason that it is safe. All your information are secured. Aside from the fact that their work on their business becomes a lot easier, they also only pay for the service they use.

Is cloud hosting for photos or video sites faster and safer than traditional hosting? What type of safeguards are put into place to keep the cloud hosted sites safe?
Cloud hosting is safer than traditional methods. Why?
1.Safety of files and data is guaranteed by many servers: Files and data are backed up and stored in multiple machines.
2.There is no single point of failure: The crashing of one server does not in any way affect the others.
Is it faster? Not necessarily. The speed depends on the internet connectivity. There are no definite measures taken to avoid breaches but then again it depends on how the provider has set up the cloud hosting service.
