I would always choose Intel over AMD for many reasons. AMD tends to be cheaper but not as effective as Intel. Especially running video games and graphic software. What is your choice? Do you prefer Intel CPUs or AMD? Why?

it depends on your needs.
For example, for simple tasks in the office - AMD, because it is cheaper.
But at home I use Intel also

Why it depends on my needs, your answer is not clear.

Even on a light software or tool, which one is giving better performance?
I don't know why I was always recommended buying Intel chip when starting a new PC case.
is Intel always better on all aspects?

For multi-core applications, like video editing or encoding, AMD's price to performance ratio still can't be beat. For single core applications which is mostly everything else, Intel trumps them quiet heavily.

I used all intel stuff, but have an inkling feeling things might change after the Ryzen release... :)

Because if you need to buy 10 office PCs you can save a lot of money buying AMD.
If you want to get gaming PC, you need to buy Intel.
If you need powerful PC but your budget is very tight then again - AMD

When it is "light" you won't see the difference on both CPUs

I don't know why I was always recommended buying Intel chip when starting a new PC case.

Because Intel is better. It has better technology, better TDP, less heating... But if you take the pricing factor - it is much more expensive.

So everyone is waiting for Ryzen processor from AMD now :)

Intel might seem to hold the rank for pure CPU performance, but remains to be seen just how much that increased level of performance will actually affect the general user experience. Check out the AMD vs Intel Gaming Performance Showdown. the Intel chip outpaced the AMD by ” between 10-11% at stock and while overclocked.” This is a comparatively small value for a great price difference

All the differences explained in the article are very small. They seem to conclude that the overall difference between the two CPUS, at least as far as basic gameplay goes, is comparatively small and you can expect roughly the same experience with a modern AMD processor as you can from an Intel.”

I've always been kind of torn between the two for a couple of reason. One being that Intel charges more for their CPU's because, well, they are Intel and why not charge more if you can?

Another being that if you have x amount of dollars to spend then you can actually usually get a much better AMD CPU for the same amount of money thus better performance for the same amount of money spent.

If the prices were the exact same for comparable CPU's (technical specs) and there was no price benefit then I would go with Intel since these days they usually perform better between two similar CPU's.

Sometime ago AMD used to be good but unfortunately I think it is very behind these days. Specially using them in servers/VPS etc....

Intel chips are robust performers while AMD is also accomplished to give a good performance may get heated. But if you have some heat absorbent thermal paste and a good heat sink fan, one can save some money. For gaming, either would work fine; one just needs to have a good video card since it is the graphics where the competition can get tough.

Intel for sure, and not any intel, only the ones that support Hyper Threading are worth it IMO, AMD seems fine but they dont support HT or any similar technology as far as am aware...

Well Intel is sure the best in terms of CPU and performance. However, If you go for costing and graphics, I would recommend you AMD. Its up to what you are aiming for. I am using AMD A8 quad core with radeon r7 graphics 8 gb ram... It plays games like a charm.

With Intel you won't go wrong.
