I want to create a free photo sharing site that allow visitors to upload and sharing their images on other websites, they will get a link of their photo which uploaded to my site hosting. What hosting for this kind of site? how many disk space do I need? please share your advice?

Hi Philippe,

I would say storage will be your main concern with a photo sharing site.
How much space you need will depend on the size on the photos,if they are a few MB each then a shared hosting plan should be fine however if they are larger files you might want to think about a VPS. You can always migrate to a VPS if you outgrow your storage allocation.

A Reseller account would be another option as they typically include more space than shared and are a good middle ground to a VPS.

The best solution for this would be a dedicated server with HDD drives, since your main concern would be the amount of space required for such a project. What ever you do, never sign up for a unlimited shared hosting account since those are usually limited within the providers Terms of Service.

You are going to need a ton of disk space. Unless a host is aware of this they may not allow a system like this, with shared/reseller hosting anyway. There will be way to many files served from one account.

HostBastic has the right idea for a system like this. You will want to get a dedicated server with up to 4 HDs for a ton of space.

Start with a reseller account, but plan on moving to a dedicated server as your site takes off!

The only way to determine your space and bandwidth needs will be once the site is being used and you can gauge based on current traffic.

I agree with others in that it'd probably be best to starter with a Reseller hosting account (due to them including more diskspace) and upgrading to a VPS only when needed.

Exactly it is my concenetr because kind of this site is storing images from viditosr, they can upload tons of images to my web. I think VPS is a good option in this case. Why reseller account is your recommendation? why not is a VPS?

I didn't think i need HDD drives, it will affect to loading speed for my photo sharing site? Since I have known SSD, I always go with this feature.

VPS can work better than reseller hosting for this site?

It depends on my traffic, I will start with a VPS or reseller as your recommendations, I am searching a good script for this site, I like the way that imgur doing, it is simple but easy for visitors can upload photos to website just some clicks.
