I haven't had any success with an affiliate program in the past, but I mainly attribute this to lack of advertising. If I were to guess, these usually work better for people targeting a niche.

I don't really use affiliate programs but I have one open. I'm more of a help business start up type of guy, id rather help a business start and profit down the line instead of holding affiliate programs.

Our affiliate program works ok for us. In fact, most of our Sales are from referrals, though not always from the affiliate program itself. I notice some directory/review website owners link to us using affiliate codes.

Affiliates program is pretty good. If you are looking to get on with a provider try contacting them and work out a small business plan and see what kind of extras they can offer to you personally. For us our affiliates program is working pretty well, mainly this comes from dedicated server and vps resells but I've seen a fair return.

If you are going to make an affiliates program. Make it interesting - otherwise, why would someone resell your own products when they can create their own product? ...think about it! Good luck!

I think that affiliate programs are good for people selling digital goods and physical product, but I don't see it helping with web hosting companies.

The fact is, there are so many web hosting companies out there that anyone could pick any of them at any time they choose. Affiliate accounts for web hosts may cause spam and unwanted visitors, I've heard of lots of affiliates cheating and just making junk accounts on servers to get more money. You'd definitely have to have a way of making sure the same IP can't sign up and a dDOs server as well.
