Out of curiosity, would anyone be willing to pay for a Forum Web membership as a way to support the site and earn some goodies as well as privileges such as an extended signature and maybe reduced sticky fees?

Great suggestions.

What kind of premium content/sections would you like to see?

What do you feel would be an acceptable Premium Member fee?

Any other suggestions on how we can make Forum Web Hosting better?

In terms of premium content I think perhaps a Web Hosting Company Owners forum would be nice where we can collaborate about issues, complain about clients, etc... :emlaugh:

In my opinion, I would be willing to pay $200 or so annually maybe? The reason I think this is fair is because most stickies are $25 for 30 days, so if you are going to be advertising a lot, maybe you can pitch in a 25% - 50% discount or so on the stickies, maybe increase the signature lines to 4.

The forum is good the way it is I mean corporate member not premium could be an additional add on but its not really needed. If it was to be implemented id say something around $800/yr or $400 semi annually. You really want to have established companies on your forum no summer host is going to pay $800/yr or $400 semi annually so you can use that to ween out the summer host maybe do something like a contributor rank $10/$20 a month would suffice. Just my personal opinion I mean I like the forum the way it is. I think once the forum has more traffic and more long term host then premium, corporate and other ranks can be added.

I was wondering when someone would mention Premium/Corporate type memberships.

I'm already paying around $480/year for the banner ads on FWH and WMS which is already above my budget and so don't think I could afford premium membership too. ;)

It'd be perfect for other members who don't already have banner ads or can pay for premium membership too.

I've always thought WHT had a decent membership modal. At the moment advertising on our forum is a free for all with little to no restrictions and imo a bit of a mess.

Perhaps a membership model that is based on how often you can advertise, for example corporate membership would give you the ability to post 3 times a week compared to a non paying member who could only post once per seven days, so the paying members can bump their thread more often. The top paying members could also be entitled to the Top 10 spots.

But this would have to involve clearing all old ads and starting fresh.
Little badges or Titles could also also be given to paying members under their image for example Premium member, corporate member, Forum supporter etc

Anyway thats my 2 cents

One thing that I love about this forum is it doesn't have the ridiculous moderation of WHT. I think things such as ads will definitely need to be more restrictive and structured if premium/corporate memberships are implemented, but please Admins... never let this forum become the dictatorship of WHT where ads and posts that offend or disagree with them or their admins get deleted.

Well have you noticed more and more members and web hosts are signing up and the traffic has increased a lot Alexa wise etc lately (all since I joined j/k). :salute:

I'd leave it for now. There's already restrictions in place that may already be putting some users off from signing up, e.g., need x posts before signature and x posts before can post ads and need to login every 30 days to keep signatures enabled, but then those are good settings to help keep out spammers. But I think let's let the memberbase grow a bit more and maybe add more stuff around a few months later!?

I thought corporate was way too expensive.

I thought it was just right. What do you not like!?

Still early days yet. While FWH is doing really well and traffic is increasing a lot etc it does not have anywhere near the traffic or forum activity WHT has... yet, and so there is no need to have the 3/6/7 day post stuff in place yet. Maybe soon, but not yet as I mentioned in my previous post.

The top paying members could also be entitled to the Top 10 spots.
Nooo! FWH would be just like WHT where only the providers with the biggest wallets get the same ads all the time leaving no room for small-medium businesses to expand etc. 9/10 consumers want to signup to the smaller-medium providers who offer more personal support than signup with the bigger providers who have the biggest wallets but not as good services.

Little badges or Titles could also also be given to paying members under their image for example Premiumm member, corporate member, Forum supporter etc
I agree, but maybe not yet. I would offer Forum Supporter first for low price and introduce Premium/Corporate middle/end of next year.

I have to agree with Chris on this. I think one of the great things bout FWH is that there aren't nearly as many restrictions as WHT and that it doesn't blatantly favor "corporate hosts". Perks are nice, but when you need to shell out hundreds if not a thousand dollars for one ad to get seen, that drives away traffic from some really great people. Quite frankly, with the right guidance, over time I think FWH could grow to the size of WHT. It might be a different dynamic and not have as many "top names", but there is a large benefit in that as well.

It is a good idea and i thought that or some people here suggested me but I will not think about membership at this time, I would focus on growing this forum first, I like reading and learning experience and hosting techniques from web hosting experts on this community. It's also reason why I build this forum with hopes it will be a forum for all website owners and web hosting providers come, ask, help, find services or sharing experience to others.

But to keep a community grows, it needs many aspects, I had plans for each period which should do this time or next time...etc.

I will not think more about earning money when trying to developing and growing the forum, some website owners when just built their sites, thought about adding all methods to earn money from it, that will help them fail faster with their sites at the first step. We should think which visitors need and what they are expecting to have when visiting a website.

That's why I open all advertising forums on ForumWeb.Hosting for posting for FREE without paying anything but requiring contributions first (for new members) to post there. Also, I only offering banner ads, this helps a little money to maintain this forum for fees as domain, hosting, advertising this forum on other sites...etc.

In terms of premium content I think perhaps a Web Hosting Company Owners forum would be nice where we can collaborate about issues, complain about clients, etc... :emlaugh:
This obviously is a true thought from a web hosting provider/expert :) if I am not wrong? and it's exact but it will be hard to grow the forum in world wide web, if a hosting company only supports their clients on their forum, that forum will be difficult to become top forums, I visited some forums like that and I had to leave them because I am not their client...I could not join...

It is better for a person build a web hosting forum if that person is not in web hosting field, so it will be fair for all web hosting providers on the community. It's reason why I am here  and of course is I need all your support hosting experts to build a successful hosting forum.

I will think about this idea and apply it when a web host here can earn $2000/year so they will ready to pay $200 annually, because I know which forum gives benefits to them, they will give back to the forum.

Just my thoughts. :emerg:

Cheers, :drink2:

luckily i'm member of many forums from 2005 so im enjoying the benefit of old membership. But yes some of these would be worth, as those have high no of members base, near to half members.

Hence yes i may look to join some of the paid memberships in future.
