Hi Guys,

I read the topics below but I've some questions :) (Thx for the Benchmark!)
https://forumweb.hosting/13131-benchmark-top-hosting-providers-vps-update-07-16.html
https://forumweb.hosting/13121-what...-vps-ssd-and-vps-cloud.html?p=78517#post78517

My understanding is that CPU performance doesn't impact a lot for web hosting, we need RAM+SSD with good setup.
What about CEPH Storage, I heard that OVH have some issues and latency+IO seems to be "higher" than SSD, any feedback ?

OVH Public Cloud. VPS SSD - 1vCore / 4GB RAM / 20GB SSD - 7,19 €/mo
OR
OVH Public Cloud. VPS Cloud RAM - 1vCore / 6GB RAM / 25GB CEPH - 9,59 €/mo

Apps : Nginx+SSL+NodeJS+Mysql-MariaDB -15k visitors daily (No CDN like Cloudflare etc..)

For your information

Thx for you help !

Hello Shakr,
I don't recommend you Ceph storage for your Apps, because the performances are not good at all (latency and bad IOPS).
But the VPS SSD are pretty good, and for that price there is no alternative.

Although I do not know how OVH has theirs setup, I will say that CEPH storage can be as fast, if not faster then using a local drive.

CEPH storage uses a cluster of storage servers which your data is stored on. Assuming they CEPH storage is also SSD, the only limiting factor is the storage network.
If the servers are connected to CEPH via 1Gbps Ethernet, you can have some serious latency problems.

We use multiple bonded 10Gbps connections between our CEPH storage and web servers and the sped is amazing!

That's the bad point with OVH. Their Ceph storage is not based on SSD, but on 15k SAS disks + NVMe caching system. The cluster size is 10TB SAS storage + 3.6TB NVMe.
They have 40GBps connection between the servers and the storage, but that's not enough to offer good performances for web hosting, too much latency.
But their Ceph provide a triple replication of the data, so if you are looking for a cloud storage, that's better than any other RAID storage.
