One of the main services that every company should have in their online business is email accounts, today most of the communications or notifications are made by this, so it is essential to have the service e-mail activated.

When a user contracts a domain, this does not mean that already has mail service, but to be active in this service, you need some kind of accommodation (shared or dedicated, as needed) where you can receive emails and leave them stored until you connect and can view them.

When creating email accounts, you must be clear if you need are POP3 or IMAP type. Each of these accounts has their advantages. Let's go to see what each of them brings us.

POP 3 accounts allow users to download emails on their computers through a mail client such as Outlook Express, Mozilla Thunderbird or any other. By using this type of accounts, users can download the messages to these clients and then display them, even if they have lost the connection, because what this type of accounts does is to download mail on your computer locally. Once downloaded, these are deleted from the server, freeing the space, unless at the time of configuring the mail in the client that we use, check the option to leave a copy. As we have said, of this type are the majority of the accounts that are handled today.

The other accounts, IMAP, not download emails as POP3 does, but are displayed remotely, accessing long before the new emails have been received, and there is no need that these emails are downloaded to local and makes POP3. A great advantage of this type of accounts is as the mails is not downloaded, several users will be able to access the same account and see the same emails.

Given these differences, in addition to other techniques that we will not go into evaluating them, when it comes to creating the mail we should decide if the accounts we use will be POP type or IMAP type.
