Hi,

I saw offers on the forum with big storage and I think it is a good way if I use a VPS for backup data purpose from my other shared or VPS companies. But I want to make it as simple for minimize the RAM usage because this vps only for backup purpose. Do you guys have any tutorials about this? or what OS or web control panels should i use?

Do I need to install a web server like Apache and PHP, is that enough without install Mysql?

or you have another configurations for VPS backup settings?

Please share your advice.

For storage, you should try Owncloud, it provide the ability to backup a FTP or a MySQL database and you can schedule it. It can be install on any VPS and you can install it with linux packages, so just have to do a apt-get install and it will be ready.

R1Soft is the best/easiest way to go, IMO

Setup the backups client on your VPS's/servers

Setup the backup manager on your backup manager.

R1Soft will run on your set schedule, sync all files & databases, and email you if there is a problem.

rsync is really good has a ton of options and has been around forever. But if you want more of a commercial product R1Soft can't be beat for the price.
