I have bought a VPS 2 GB RAM 6 months ago and today I checked my sites in my whm, at DNS zone file, I saw a bunch of strange sites, I contacted the hosting provider and they said resseller option should be fine for me. what should I do next? I bought a managed VPS with cPanel but now it is a reseller, it is weird. Maybe I didn't check it carefully before. My question is how to know if my hosting package is a reseller hosting so that I can avoid this next time.

Hello, yes there are many hosting providers which use container or other semi-virtual solution with a remote cPanel and sell it as VPS.
In fact it playing with words, and anyway cPanel should not be used under 6-8GB RAM.

There is a very small difference between a reseller with cloudlinux and a VPS if you are using cPanel on it. And even without cPanel, most of VPS are using OpenVZ which is container solution.

Ok, so you thought you owned a private VPS yes ? you asked your hosting provider about it after finding weird DNS records and and they said it was a reseller server ?
If it is a reseller account/server you would not be able to see other DNS zones on the server other than those you created and owned by you, so perhaps you are on a private VPS.

A simple test would be, are you logging in as root or some other account name ? If it is a reseller and not a private VPS you will not have root access.

Of course they said that.

Maybe they made a mistake when didn't configure and I could see DNS zones.

You are right, the first time I bought a VPS I asked for root account but they didn't send to me and said they need to secure their VPS.

Then it sounds like you are on a reseller account. They should provider root access for VPS's

They said to me it is a reseller account and they will not provide root access for my plan.

I am choosing a new VPS and leaving their services.

That sounds like a smart idea, since they are living about offering VPS, when it's not! Would you mind telling us which host this was?
