Some of the things that you need to consider include the disk space and monthly bandwidth limits, uptime, quality of technical support, how long backups are retained and whether you can use custom name servers.

It's a plus if the provider includes a free WHMCS licence and offers live chat support.

Also, you should find out if the provider gives FTP or SSH access, and what PHP version supported.

Why do we need to include a free WHMCS licence and offers live chat support?

SSH access? I think it is just required if you own a VPS?

Hi Maxoq,

This would be my list of requirements for a reseller account:

End user support (Unless you want to spend all day answering tickets and fixing any problems)

Over Selling (Some provider only allow you to allocate your storage quota, but in real terms customers only use a small percentage of their resource allocation, for example you could fit 200 accounts at 10GB each so your unused space is not wasted)

White Labeled (private name servers will keep you anonymouse from your upstream provider from most customers) nothing can be 100% white label if you know where to look but you should be as hidden as possible.

CloudLinux would also be a must for me also.

As I have said in others threads asking about choosing a provider, you don't know what your service is going to be like until you start using it, some providers have amazing offers but once you start using it you will find out things are not so good. Monthly billing would be a must for me with any new provider until they are proven themselves.

You should consider whether the dealer offers 24 hour support, custom dns, check the plan's disk space, if there is limit cpanel accounts and especially if the server is stable, has a good uptime.

Just some sum-up which is mentioned above...

Requirements for reseller:
1) adding new HW (especially if you will resell VPS)
2) support (24/7 vs 24/5?) - the most important one (you really don't want a support which works in work-week only! Your customers work 24/7)
3) locations of their servers (US vs EU vs Asia - it depends on your needs)

Just send them email that you are interested in reselling their services and you will see how things work :)

There is a good way to test your chosen dedicated server for a while. A trustworthy provider should offer a trial (even though it does not cover all setting fees). You could directly ask a provider if they can offer you server for week / few weeks for a better price just for the test. If your business model makes sense to them I don't see any reason why they should refuse your demand.

My recommendation is to visit the companies websites and try the support. It is better if they let you test it for a cheaper price. Money-back guarantee is a must.

There are no limits to the earning potential through a reseller hosting account. Through a reseller hosting package you can create your own packages comprising of the prices that you would like to charge. You also have the option of reselling the hosting packages provided by us. By being a reseller, you get the ability to customize your packages for higher flexibility and better profit margins.

WHMCS is costly nowadays, since they made that price change. But you can get WHMCS included in reseller packages when you pay $30 or above per month.

If I were to choose a reseller hosting plan, I will look into:
1) Space
2) Bandwidth
3) No: of Cpanel accounts allowed
4) Overselling enabled?
5) Additional free features?
5) Support.. [HIGHLY IMPORTANT]

While looking for a Reseller account, there are certain factors that have to be checked before signing for the Reseller account. Some the factors are 100% uptime, variety of packages, excellent customer support, fully managed service, No contracts, free domain reseller account. Kindly check the TOS for any hidden terms and conditions that the web host reveals latter. We know that web hosting is a service and it can be experienced after the service is availed.

Space and Bandwidth are what a lot of providers focus on, but I recommend looking into the "extras."

A non-branded WHMCS license is going to run you around $18.95/mo alone, so try to find a hosting package with it.

Next, your customers don't want slow hosting, so choose a package that uses "better" technology than old-school SATA hard-drives (I like SSD with Raid 10).

I also like LiteSpeed over Apache and MariaDB over MySQL for ultimate performance. Finally, look for a package using CloudLinux with CageFS to ensure your accounts stay secure and one "bad apple" can't take down your entire account. ;)

Choosing reseller hosting company

1. Ticket response time, Open ticket with you hosting company and ask some question and monitor response time.

Also billing department response time is very important. I am sure you don't want to wait for 3+ days to get response on your billing related query ;)

2. Server uptime and network performance.

3. Stable price, If price will increase then it will affect your plan and price of your customers so first check their pricing history from wayback website.

4. Security and speed. Speed is important and also security is important.

I used to use this way to check support of a web host provider.
but supporting customers when buying a web hosting are different from supporting an existed customer while they are getting hosting problems.

2. Server uptime and network performance.

4. Security and speed. Speed is important and also security is important.
Seen it is not possible to check these if you have not bought their hosting services yet.

The main things you should look for is high Uptime, with independent hiostroical evidence, the quality of support, the ability to upgrade services easily, custom Nameservers or unbranded Nameservers and backup retention.

There are many other factors, however these are considered the main ones to lookout for.

Things to consider while buying re seller hosting
1. OS type , it's better if it's cloudlinux, cloudlinux isolated each user resources on shared environment.
2. Litespeed Server : Drop in replacement of apache & blazing fast
3. Cpanel/WHM offered or not
4. Defined disk space & BW: Don't fall on the trap of marketing gimmick unlimited resources.
5. SSH access
6. Uptime & support
7. Custom name server & white level
8. Stable price
9. Backup
10. Security
11. Free SSL from comodo or Let's encrypt
