Hello
Our company has just switched to another domain and the company changed it`s name from "The HCF Company" to HCF AminoScience.
We have registered a drop in our traffic.
I was wondering if a press release can help us get some traffic and maybe even get some links that aren`t nofollowed.

I was considering to chose this plan:

http://www.24-7pressrelease.com/price_plan_mmv.php

Thing is, before the move the website was ranked #1 for "happy calm focused" and "hcf aminoscience" and now it`s not even on the first page.

What do you think? Are press releases useful here? Will I see any SEO improvement? Or am I better just to wait for the website to naturally get back up in the SERPs?

How long has it been since you switched to the new domain?

2 weeks...I know, I should wait more time but I was wondering if press releases are a way to speed things up. (After doing 2 hours of research today I found out that all the links are nofollowed, even if you don`t use "links with optimized anchor text" as Google asked - which seems like an exaggeration if you ask me).
Even if we have 301s in place, the traffic still took a significant toll. So, at least for increasing traffic and getting our message across, are press releases worth it?

Is the change of domain even a newsworthy thing?

Anybody? No Ideas?

No responses here. In the meantime "How we get top ranks on search engine with help of few backlinks?" has 14 responses.
I should have made a post about the importance of blog commenting in SEO....

If all the links are nofollowed then you should leave it and using guest blog posts instead.

Just my 0.02 cents

I see...thanks for your input. Didn`t know if it was worth it to spend $400 on potential 100% nofollow links

Well we just had a long discussion on whether nofollow links are worth it or not. I don't think we will be repeating that discussion again anytime soon. Usually results in verbal fist fights. :duel:

Yes...I know the discussion, it has been flooding my email in the past days.:book: I have no interest in that, talking about nofollow vs normal is like talking about apple vs samsung, xbox vs playstation etc.

Was curious if you would use a press release, yes or no and hopefully provide an argument.

In this thread @developer says that he uses them and they work well. I would hit him up via PM and ask him to chime in on this thread or if he would share exactly what he is doing and how it worked for him via Private Messaging.

He's the only one I see here that is saying they had a positive experience. So if you can't find any others then I would seek them out by Googling or by checking other forums in this niche. To get real honest answers, you are almost always better off hitting people up via PM.

Hope you get the info you are seeking. Wish I could tell you the answer with certainty. Just be weary of taking the advice of someone selling press release services.

Food for thought - I don't use them at all anymore except if I am promoting a local website. And for the local website, I am not doing it for SEO. I am doing it to simulate the presence of real news.

When you guys moved the domain, did you properly 301 redirect each individual page from the old page to the corresponding page on the new site? The web admin did not do something stupid like just redirect the whole thing to the home page of the new site, did they?

I wish that the answer was that obvious...unfortunately it`s not...all the 301 are correctly done....I will give it one more week to see how the ranking changes. :)

Sending a press release after any big update on your website it a must do. Press release is an announcement and always helps in new traffic increase. But you must also quickly work on your SEO which will help you improve ranking and grow long term traffic.

This will a great idea to do press release for new domain as this will bring the early link juice to the website. make sure that duplicate press release are not distributed to all the websites as this will count as panda penalty. Write 1 unique press release for each website you submitting to and if the article gets rejected then you can post to other easier website.
