Hi everyone,

I would like to get your ideas of how long does it take you or other writers here to completely write an article from scratch with a 400 to 500 word count, not just rewriting, including all research, writing and revisions.

What usually do you do when writing an article for your blog?

I don't do much research, as I only write about what i know, so maybe my input doesn't count. 500 words maybe 30 minutes. Depends, some times quicker, some times longer, depends if I am in the zone or not. Not that I am a professional writer :)

It all depends. Usually write a very detailed long post for my blog, a typical blog post might take a week of planning and writing. I use pictures, videos and infographics when necessary. The idea is to make the post as explicit as possible.

Another factor is the niche. Obviously, if you're in the entertainment niche, you must learn how to write short but entertaining post, because you're expected to post almost every hour. But in my blog niche some authority blog don't even post more than once a month. I post twice or thrice in a month because I have other commitment.

My personal speciality is the five hundred word blog article.
Paragraph break
Depending on topic and keywords, it takes me about one and a half hours from start to finish.
Paragraph break
This covers research, actual editing of the draft through to finish in United Kingdom English, and adjustments arising from citing from copyscape.
Paragraph break
As a freelancing writer however, how much a client is wishing to pay largely determines how long creating an article shall take.

My process of writing an article is rather different from others I suppose.

It all starts after waking up, do my routine. Then I get a mug of coffee and sit at my desk to start writing. I use Google Docs to write, and usually, I begin by picking up a topic, then write down fragments of information that will be added to the article. I do research and add also a fragments, and then rewrite everything adding such information as part of my article.

The process takes around 3 hours, this counting with the editing and proofreading, however my articles are often around 1000 words, other than 500.

Usually, I am listening to a random playlist of songs when writing, it helps me to focus.

Writing involves creative thinking and skill to communicate your thoughts into a reading material.

Normally, if one is familiar with the topic and is in the mood to write, a simple article can be finished in 10-30minutes. If the writer is not in the mood or having mental block” a simple article may take hours or a day to finish.

If a writer needs to touch an unfamiliar topic, a research needs to be done first to be able to come up with a good write-up. The length of time may depend on the deadline given and how extensive research should be done but normally a professional writer has the discipline to write even under pressure and to fulfil the deadlines set.

Anybody can write but writing something worth reading or having a positive effect on other people's lives is what differentiates a true writer from a mediocre one .

Hmm. For a 300 word article, about 15 to
60 minutes, it depends on my familiarity
on the subject. In cases that I'm not that familiar, research time is around 20 to 30 minutes, and composition and writing
takes the same time for me.

It depends. When you are about to write an article and you just want to share your experiences, it'll take less than 30 minutes. But when a topic you are about to post is new to you, and that you need to look for details and information to support your article, I think within an hour would be enough for you to finish a 1000-word article.

Just depends on the topic and how much I already know about it. If it is a topic that I am familiar with I can get a 500 word article out in about a half an hour.
